Percepción de los turistas sobre el alojamiento en Airrbnb Cuenca: un análisis de comentarios y reseñas online
    (2025) Pillco Narváez, Paula Jael
This study was conducted with the objective of understanding the perspective that tourists have regarding the accommodation offered by Airbnb platform in Cuenca-Ecuador, within a context where the platform has gained significant popularity in recent years and has emerged as a formidable competitor to traditional hospitality. The growing adoption of Airbnb has transformed the accommodation market by providing alternatives that combine flexibility, authenticity, and, in many cases, an excellent cost-benefit ratio, meeting the expectations of a market segment predominantly composed of young adults and frequent travelers interested in cultural and personalized experiences. To address this phenomenon, a documentary and bibliographic review was carried out to analyze the impact of the implementation of the regulations stipulated in Ministerial Agreement No. 2023-011, which aims to regulate and standardize tourist accommodation services in Ecuador, thereby enhancing user confidence and safety. Additionally, a netnographic analysis of the reviews and comments published on Airbnb was applied, which enabled the identification of the aspects most valued by guests, such as prime location, accommodation comfort, personalized host attention, and, notably, the perception of security. The findings reveal that, despite the inherent variability in alternative accommodation experiences, the quality offered remains at a standard level that meets the requirements of tourists, in accordance with their demographic characteristics and global trends. In summary, this study not only underscores the relevance of Airbnb as a competitive alternative to traditional hospitality but also emphasizes the need for continuous quality management and the implementation of regulations that guarantee a comprehensive and satisfactory tourist experience in high-demand destinations like Cuenca.
