Aplicación web para la estimulación cognitiva en adultos mayores de la parroquia Turi
(Instituto Superior Tecnológico Particular Sudamericano, 2025) Marco Andrés Aucay Barros
This project emerged as a response to a problem that exists today throughout the world: the deterioration of cognitive functions in people, especially older adults. This problem is related to other factors, starting with the significant increase in the number of older adults and the limited access they have to participate in in-person cognitive stimulation programs. The objective of the project was to develop an interactive and accessible web application for the stimulation of cognitive functions such as memory and attention in older adults from the GAD Parroquial de Turi, adapting to their needs. Through a review of the scientific literature, we identified the best strategies for stimulation through fun, interactive games and activities designed for this purpose. The research methodology had a qualitative approach, using tools such as initial exploratory surveys and application evaluation surveys. Using the agile development methodology “Scrum,” the application was developed efficiently and consistently, focusing primarily on user experience. Although the goal is to provide cognitive stimulation for older adults, the tool is intended to be used by a family member or caregiver. The result was NeuroX, a web application that integrates activities and exercises designed to stimulate cognitive functions and adapted to the needs of older adults. During the pilot testing period with real users from the GAD Parroquial Turi, the functionality, effectiveness, and usability of the application were successfully validated, resulting in evident acceptance by caregivers, family members, and older adults. In conclusion, this proposal highlights the possibility of integrating technology into the mental health of older adults, specifically in cognitive stimulation in an accessible and effective manner.
