- ItemGafas inteligentes para la detección e identificación de objetos, aplicado a personas con discapacidad visual en la ciudad de Cuenca(2024) Erick Paul Quizhpe Baculima; José Gonzalo Suquitana CalderónThe main objective of the program is to create and build a prototype of smart glasses capable of recognizing and detecting various objects, improving the safety and mobility of blind people. The prototype provides users with tactile and auditory information through object recognition technology. This archetype consists of both software and hardware. The hardware includes a high-resolution camera connected to a laptop, which is the model's processor. Based on JavaScript and CSS programming languages, the software is responsible for processing objects and figures in real time. To determine the usefulness and effectiveness of the prototype in real scenarios, blind users in the city of Cuenca participated in testing and evaluation processes. Preliminary results show that the prototype performs close to 80% of predicted expectations. This is due to the fact that, in the programming, errors have been identified when detecting certain objects, since the system tends to get confused in shapes and colors. However, users find these smart glasses comfortable to wear, with easy handling and optimal weight.
