- ItemSistema de reconocimiento facial para la selección personalizada de armazones y lentes de la empresa Veoptics(Instituto Superior Tecnológico Particular Sudamericano, 2025) Freddy Javier Paguay ChablaThis research focuses on the development of a web-based experience module powered by facial recognition and virtual try-on technology for Veoptics, an optical retail company located in Cuenca, Ecuador. The project seeks to transform the way customers select eyeglass frames and lenses by addressing the limitations of the current process, which is entirely manual and often time-consuming, lasting between 30 and 60 minutes per customer. This traditional approach leads to indecision and fatigue, as clients must physically try on multiple frames without receiving personalized recommendations. Aiming to design, implement, and validate a system that streamlines and personalizes this process, the study employed a mixed-method approach, combining quantitative metrics (selection time reduction, conversion rates) with qualitative insights from surveys and interviews conducted with both customers and Veoptics staff. The proposed solution introduces key innovative features: an initial questionnaire that captures essential customer data (age, habits, visual sensitivity), the use of MediaPipe FaceMesh to detect 468 facial landmarks and classify face morphology, a 3D modeling engine built on Three.js and WebGL to realistically overlay over 300 eyeglass models, and seamless integration with the existing CRM through Supabase. Results indicate that the system successfully reduced the average product selection time by 35 %, achieved an 88 % satisfaction rate among customers, and was positively received by staff, who noted its benefits in both customer service and administrative functions such as 3D model management and marketing campaigns. In conclusion, the proposed module not only addresses a specific operational need for Veoptics but also establishes a scalable framework that could be replicated in other optical retailers, contributing to the modernization of the visual retail experience across Ecuador.
