    Evaluación y estrategias para un óptimo estado nutricional del personal de la Cooperativa de transporte en Taxis 30-20 y la Compañía 13 de Febrero de la ciudad de Cuenca

    The World Health Organization (WHO) points out that poor eating habits and unhealthy styles comprise a public health problem. In the case of taxi drivers, the workload and the lack of a balance diet can negatively impact on their nutricional status, incrising the risk of overweigth, obesity, and chronic diseases. The objective of this study was to analyze the eating patterns and nutritional condition of the drivers of the Cooperative of “Taxis 30-20” and the Company “13 de Febrero”. A descriptive study was carried out with the participation of 70 taxi drivers, 35 from each cooperative. Date collection was executed through surveys in Google forms and its analisis and interpretation was done using Microsft Excel. Eating habits were evaluated trough surveys, and nutricional status is calculated throuth anthropometric indicators. The results revealed that 47% of the cab drivers present overweigth, 29% have a normal weigth, 19% suffer from class 1 obesity and 5% class 2 obesity. It was identify that a large portion of cab drivers consume food outside home, which could contribute to excess weigth. As a part of the study, a questionnarie was elaborated to assses the risk of overweigth. A healthy eating guide was elaborated that explains the proper distribution of a healthy meal and the interpretation of nutricional labeling. In addition, examples of balanced menus and strategies for organizing healthy meals within their workday. In conclusion, the high indicence of obesity and overweigth in this group higlights the importance of implemeting interventions to improve their eating habits and promote a healthier lifestyle trought nutritional education.
