Relatos vivenciales de los adultos mayores del hogar Miguel León de la ciudad de Cuenca para mantener la medicina ancestral
(Instituto de Tecnologías Sudamericano, 2023) Diego Guillermo Navos Navos
The absence of knowledge of the current generations of traditional medicine creates barriers for the improvement of health treatment. The goal of the project was setting out to create a mobile application and a book with the use of graphic design tools to raise awareness of the medicinal plants found in the "Hogar Miguel León", which are cultivated by the seniors, as part of the project "Mercado de la buena vida". The research follows the methodology of experiences, with Design Thinking in five stages: empathizing, defining, devising, prototyping and testing. The result is an illustrated graphic product, which represents adults. The innovative aspect is that the information on cultivation and the benefits derived from this type of medicine is explained in the form of an experiential story by the people who live there. This research is the result of the PIENSA Project of the third level of the Graphic Design course at the Instituto Superior Tecnológico Particular Sudamericano in the city of Cuenca-Ecuador. In conclusion, it indicates the importance of maintaining the intangible traditions of the ancestors; making them known with the implementation of an editorial and digital product, which recalls the use of ancestral techniques and rescues recipes of our origins.
