Libro didáctico interactivo en el área de matemáticas para estudiantes de cuarto de básica de la Unidad Educativa Particular Iberoamericano
(Instituto Superior Tecnológico Particular Sudamericano, 2026) Alvear Ulloa Gabriela Abigail; Chuquimarca Torres Rosario Abigail
This thesis addresses the difficulties faced by fourth-grade students in the general basic education program at the Unidad Educativa Particular Integración Iberoamericano in mathematics, particularly in multiplication, division, and logical reasoning. Given this issue, the overall objective was to design an interactive educational book for mathematics that integrates movable elements and interactive digital resources, aimed at children aged 8–9. The project was developed using the Design Thinking methodology, progressing through the phases of empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. As part of the Empathize phase, a survey of students, interviews with teachers, and a focus group with specialists in audiovisual design, child psychology, were conducted, which made it possible to identify pedagogical needs and define the project’s visual identity: three characters based on Ecuadorian wildlife (sea lion, jaguar, and spectacled bear), a pastel color palette, and a kawaii-style visual design for the characters. Based on this information, a 38-page book—including the front and back covers—was laid out and illustrated in a 21 x 21 cm format with a hardcover binding and laminated pages, incorporating interactive elements (spinners, a magic lantern, and flaps). Digital mini-games linked via QR codes were also developed as audiovisual reinforcement resources.
