This research study aims to achieve three fundamental objectives: the redesign of institutional signage, the creation of a general map indicating evacuation routes, and the production of a corresponding user manual for the Jose Tomas Rendon Solano School of General Basic Education, located in the El Valle parish of the city of Cuenca, justified by problems associated with spatial orientation, visual desorganization, and a lack of grafic criteria. This causes misunderstandings among the students, teachers, and people moving around inside the institution. The methodology applied combined qualitative and quantitative research techniques: direct observation, interviews, and surveys, from which we will obtain a diagnosis of orientation needs and the visual communication of this school. In light of what has been accomplished, the design proposal has been developed based on the graphic design principles, visual communication, semiotics, and wayfinding, all of which, while respecting ISO and INEN norms that affect educational signage. Therefore, a functional and coherent signage system is created. The proposal seeks to contribute to improved orientation, reinforce institutional identity, and enhance the spatial experience of the educational community, while also improving visual communication within the educational environment.
